How to get to Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta is located in the middle of Java, south east of Jakarta. There is no international airport in Yogyakarta. First you have to come to one of the entry point to come to Yogyakarta. There are many international entry points, such as Soekarno Hatta International Airport of Jakarta, Ngurah Rai Airport of Bali, and Polonia Airport of Medan, etc. Direct flight to Yogyakarta are available from Jakarta and Denpasar (Bali). Flight from Jakarta or Bali to Yogyakarta takes approximately 1 hour. There are many domestic carriers such as Garuda (National Flag Carrier), Lion Air, Mandala Airlines, Batavia Air, and Adam Air.

How to get to Hotel from Airport

Adi Sucipto Airport of Yogyakarta is relatively small airport that lies only 15 km or so outside the city centre. We recommend you to take a taxi for your convenience.

There are many city taxi services within Yogyakarta. To name several, there are Centris Taxi, Asa Taxi, Rajawali Taxi, PSA Taxi, and many more. They will use argometer with flag fall IDR 5,000,- and IDR 1,500.-/km.

Pick up Service

For the convenience of iiWAS2006 participants, our official Travel Agent provides Airport pick up service from/to Adi Sucipto Airport to/from Hotel on your arrival/departure date.

If you need this service, please indicate in your Hotel Reservation Form "Airport Pick-up" or send an email to accomocation@iiwas.org indicating your arrival date, time, flight number and number of persons accompanying you.

Visa Requirement

For those who require a visa to come to Indonesia, please fill in the visa letter request form and send it by email to : visa@iiwas.org with your passport number, country of issue, issue date, expire date, the address, telephone number, fax number of the Indonesian Embassy where you would like to apply for visa. The visa letter will be faxed to you and to the Indonesian Embassy in your country.

Please notice that according to @WAS guidelines :

  1. Visa letters will ONLY be issued to:
    • Speaker/Presenter
    • Committee Members
    • Registered participants who have paid their registration fees in full
  2. Visa letters will state only the following facts:
    • Conference title, dates and location
    • That the applicant has paid the required registration fee in full
    • If they are either a committee member, speaker, presenter or participant
